REACHING OUT TO SPOKANE’S MOST VULNERABLE

As a homeless Outreach Specialist here in the Spokane area for the past few years, my eyes have seen so many things that have caused my heart and mind to respond appropriately. How can it be that I see people in need day in and day out and not take some type of action to try and improve the quality of their lives?

In my humble opinion there are some things that just should not be, one of those things being individuals wearing shoes that are too big or too small and in some cases not having or wearing shoes at all. I have seen first hand so many homeless individuals that have a limited choice of socks and shoes and are outdoors in all types of weather which can lead to various issues: frostbite, fungal and bacterial infections, blisters, bunions, overgrown toenails just to name a few.

HELPING SPOKANE CHILDREN

Kids should not have to go without shoes that fit on their feet. We all know that kids often grow fast and outgrown their current shoes quickly and often. We want to make sure that Spokane’s children never have to worry about having a properly fitting shoe as they develop in the early years.
